What is Native Peanuts/Ground Nuts ?

Groundnut is an dry land crops that is grown in hot climate as it needs very less water to grow compare to other crops. It is also used as rotational crops. Groundnut seeds are seeded in the soil mostly in red soil and the plant grows above.
How Peanuts are cultivated ?
Groundnut seeds are grown under the soil with outer shells covered. It takes almost 4 to 5 months for the plant to grow and mature under the soil.
There are two types of Native groundnut varieties especially in TamilNadu, named Kodikkai and Kuthukai.
How Peanuts are come from Ground Nuts ?
Matured peanuts are harvested and heaped at a place. It is spreaded daily for them to dry and this process continues until the peanuts are fully dried.
Can we eat Raw peanuts (Fresh undried Ground nuts)?
Groundnut can be consumed before drying which will be fresh and it is not advisable to eat a lot as it creates stomach pain. The dried groundnuts are good for health even upon huge consumption.
